Data cleansing (datavask)

Also known as data validation, master data cleansing, address cleansing, datavalidering, stamdatavask, adressevask

Data cleansing means tidying up debtor master data — addresses, CVR numbers, contact details — so claims can be served and enforced.

Whether service can succeed

In practice

A collection process is only as good as the master data it runs on. A claim against “Jensen ApS” with no CVR number, at an address from 2019, is a claim that cannot be served — and therefore a claim that cannot be enforced.

It sounds trivial. It is also one of the most common reasons why old cases stall.

Where it commonly goes wrong

  • The bad data is discovered when the case has to be served. By then months have passed, and the limitation date has moved closer.
  • You clean the data once and call it done. Addresses and company details change. It is a routine, not a project.
  • Data is corrected in the collection system and not in the ERP. The wrong address comes straight back with the next invoice.
